Mission

1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment (Attack Battalion) provides U.S. Army Europe and Africa with a ready and lethal combat aviation force, capable of rapidly projecting forces across the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility in support of designated plans to assure allies and partners, deter aggression, and if necessary, defeat near peer-adversaries.

Command Sergeant Major

Sergeant Major Clutter has served with distinction in every enlisted leadership position from Section Sergeant to Command Sergeant Major.  He served as a Crew Chief in 1st Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, Fort Bragg, NC; Flight Instructor in 2nd Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, Camp Stanley, Republic of Korea; Squad Leader and Flight Instructor in 5th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, KY; Standardization Instructor in 78th Aviation Battalion, Camp Zama, Japan; Floor Supervisor in 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, KY; Career Management NCO in 1st Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment, Fort Rucker, AL; Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Command Sergeant Major in 5th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, KY; First Sergeant in 2nd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Fort Bliss, TX; Sergeant Major of the US Army Aviation Battalion Japan, he is currently serving as the 3-1 Assault Helicopter Battalion Command Sergeant Major in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Sergeant Major Clutter's military schooling includes Battalion/Brigade Pre-Command Course, USASMA, 1SG Course, SLC, ALC, WLC, Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE-C) Course, Ground Safety Management Course, Air Assault School, Combat Lifesaver Course, and Combatives Level One Course.  
 
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), the Air Medal (Numeral 7), the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Commendation Medal (7 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal (8th award), the Meritorious Honor Award, the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (8 OLC), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.  He is also authorized to wear the Order of Saint Michael, the Combat Action Badge, Master Crewmember Wings, the Air Assault Badge, and the Drivers Badge (W).
