Mission

1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment (Attack Battalion) provides U.S. Army Europe and Africa with a ready and lethal combat aviation force, capable of rapidly projecting forces across the U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command areas of responsibility in support of designated plans to assure allies and partners, deter aggression, and if necessary, defeat near peer-adversaries.

Command Chief Warrant Officer 5 Jonathan Hulse

Command Chief Warrant Officer 5

Hailing from Philadelphia, PA CW5 Jonathan Hulse joined the Army September 1994 as an OH-58D Crew Chief. His first assignment was Fort Bragg with 4/2 ACR in 1995, and he deployed in 1997 to Bosnia. Upon his return, he became an NCO and was assigned to 1-17 Cav.

Completing WOCS in 2000, he qualified in the AH-64A in 2002. His following assignments include 1-6 Cav in Korea, and 1-82 AB at Fort Bragg. In 2005, he attended the AH-64D Test Pilot Course prior to the unit’s deployment to Iraq in 2006. After this deployment, he remained with 1-82 AB for a subsequent Iraq tasking in 2008, and two deployments to Afghanistan with TF Saber in 2009 and 2011.

In 2013, CW5 Hulse was assigned to Fort Rucker, attended the AH-64D/E Instructor Pilot Course, qualified as a Test Pilot Examiner and started instructing at the Apache Test Pilot Course. He was then assigned to Germany as the TF Viper AMO and Senior Warrant Officer/Advisor in 2016. During this tour, he was selected as the 12th CAB BAMO and promoted to CW5 before moving back to Fort Bragg. As the 82nd CAB BAMO, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2021.

CW5 Hulse’s military education includes the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education Course and the Aviation and Army Pre Command Courses. CW5 Hulse holds a bachelor’s in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle.

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He’s earned the Master Aviator Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Combat Action Badge and is a recipient of the Bronze Order of Saint Michael.

CW5 Hulse has been married to his wife (and best friend and greatest supporter) Holly, from Lyndhurst, NJ for over 20 years.
