Chief Warrant Officer 5 Robert Slider was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and was raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Army as a 68N, Avionics Mechanic, and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in 1992. He attended flight school in 1998 and is qualified in the OH-58 A/C and the AH-64 A/D/E.
Slider’s previous assignments include: Directorate SP, Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization, Fort Rucker, Alabama; CAB Standardization Officer and Master Gunner, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley Kansas; BN Standardization Officer, 3-101 AHR, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Company Standardization Officer, A/3-101, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Instructor Pilot, A/3-101, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Instructor Pilot, A/1-6 CAV, Camp Eagle Korea; and Pilot in 4/3 ACR, Fort Carson, Colorado.
His military education includes the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education, Instrument Flight Examiner’s Course, and the Instructor Pilot Course. Slider’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (4), the Meritorious Service Medal (4), the Air Medal (8), the Army Commendation Medal (5), and the Army Achievement Medal (4). He holds the Master Aviator Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He is a recipient of the Order of Saint Michael Bronze and Silver award.
Slider is married and has two children.
