Command Sergeant Major Zane Hansen is a native of Ness City, Kansas. He enlisted in the Army in 1994 as an AH-64A Apache Crew Chief. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master's degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Hansen’s assignments include: AH-64A Crew Chief in 5th Battalion 501st Aviation Regiment at Camp Eagle Korea, Phase Team Leader in 4th BN 159th Aviation Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, AH-64A Technical Inspector in 1st Battalion 1st Aviation Regiment at Katterbach, Germany, Platoon Sergeant in 4th Squadron 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas, Government Ground Representative in the Defense Contract Management Agency at Mesa, Arizona, First Sergeant in 1st Battalion 214th Aviation Regiment at Wiesbaden, Germany, and the Command Sergeant Major of 2nd Battalion 2nd Aviation Regiment at K-16 (Seoul Airbase).
His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Airborne School, the Unit Movement Officer Course, the Air Load Planner Course, the Defense Packaging and Shipment of Hazardous Materials Course, the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Course, the Master Resiliency Trainer Course, the Battle Staff Course, and he is a graduate of the Unites States Army Sergeant’s Major Academy.
Hansen’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He holds the Master Army Aviation Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Gold Recruiting Badge, and the Drivers and Mechanics Badge.
Hansen and his wife have five children.
