Mission

12th Combat Aviation Brigade provides V Corps with a ready and lethal combat aviation force capable of rapidly projecting combat power across the European and African areas of responsibility in support of designated plans to assure Allies and Partners, deter aggression, and, if necessary, defeat near-peer adversaries.

As the only forward-stationed combat aviation brigade in Europe, the 12th CAB delivers decisive multi-domain aviation maneuver, attack reconnaissance, assault, heavy-lift, MEDEVAC, and air traffic services. Operating in complex multinational environments, Wings of Victory aviators and soldiers stand shoulder-to-shoulder with NATO Allies and regional partners to guarantee collective defense and readiness.

Organization

Headquartered at Katterbach Army Airfield in Ansbach, Germany, the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade consists of subordinate attack reconnaissance, general support, and aviation maintenance units stationed across key garrisons in Europe to support USAREUR-AF and V Corps operational requirements.

FORWARD-POSTURED AVIATION LETHALITY

Stationed forward in Germany and operating across Eastern Europe and NATO flanks, the brigade maintains rapid response capability with AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, and CH-47 Chinook airframes, ready to deploy combat aviation capabilities at a moment's notice.

INTEROPERABILITY & ALLIED ASSURANCE

The 12th CAB routinely participates in high-visibility multinational exercises such as DEFENDER, Saber Junction, and Allied Spirit, synchronizing joint airspace coordination, live-fire attack missions, and multi-echelon aviation training with allied air forces.

EXPEDITIONARY MULTI-DOMAIN CAPABILITY

From aeromedical evacuation (MEDEVAC) and VIP transport to deep strike and heavy cargo mobility, 12th CAB delivers flexible aviation architecture, robust communications, and tactical aviation maintenance across the European theater.
